Playa Chiquita

There are few places in the world where the jungle bathes in the sea as it does in Playa Chiquita, one of the quietest and least known beaches of the Southern Caribbean, an authentic Earthly paradise, full of peace and tranquility. It is located at 6 km south of Puerto Viejo, halfway to Manzanillo, and it is ideal for a family, relaxed and healthy tourism.

As a result of the strong earthquake that hit Limon in 1991 the underwater coral plates of these small beaches emerged, leading to pools of clear waters and soft sand surrounded by a lush tropical forest.

Decades ago, foreigners that shared the same attraction for nature arrived. They found on this beach their own paradise and made it their new home. With the common consciousness of protecting the natural and cultural diversity of the place they started developing sustainable family businesses until they established a wide range of eco-tourism related services.

The nature, body, mind and soul care are very present trends in Playa Chiquita. In this magical corner you will be able to disconnect from the outside world and the activities of daily life renewing your energy, by practicing different meditation techniques, yoga, indigenous rituals such as the sweat lodge, relax with a chocolate massage or contemplate the wildlife from your hotel hammock accompanied by a healthy diet.

Adventure sports are also present on this beach. You can snorkel in the coral reefs, go horseback riding, mountain trekking or boating along the coast with a local fisherman and catch a fish to then cook a delicious dish simmered in a great coconut milk, surrounded by new friends.

Most tourist establishments are focused on sustainability, run by family units, which offer all the care you need for an unforgettable holiday in contact with nature and collaborating with the economy of the local population which is responsible for the preservation of this tiny paradise.
